Professional & Personal Development
Professional and leadership coaching is provided since there is limited exposure during medical training to learn these important skills. Opportunities exist for surgeons to join partner hospital committees and advance into additional leadership positions on hospital medical staffs if that is of interest.
Each year, surgeons are provided with an additional five days off to obtain CMEs with all expenses paid by MAVI.
Additionally, mental health services are supported and encouraged. Being a vascular surgeon with lives and limbs on the line each day isn’t easy, so when surgeons are struggling, they can rest assured knowing they are not alone. Their partners and administrators have their backs and will make sure they get any support that may be needed. From scheduling appointments or coordinating a periodic mental health day off, physician and patient safety is always the top priority. MAVI will also cover a hospital fitness center membership if it’s desired.
We are aware that the physician suicide rate is higher than any other profession, so we take mental health very seriously. If you haven't read this Medscape article, it's worth taking the time to do so and ensuring whatever employer you choose is aware and supportive. We believe one of the bravest things a person can do is ask for help.
Culture of Continuous Learning & Teaching
At MAVI, opportunities exist to teach fellows, residents and medical students. MAVI is its own sponsoring institution accredited by the ACGME and has an accredited Vascular Surgery Fellowship. All MAVI surgeons serve as faculty.
Surgeons also have various professor ranks at University of Missouri-Kansas City Medical School and Kansas City University Medical School.

Industry Trial Research
For surgeons who are interested in research those opportunities exist at MAVI. Research efforts are supported with an onsite RN Research Coordinator. Past participation in industry trial research includes Endologix EVASII, Endologix Leopard Study, Gore ISR-1404.

Certification Even Easier Today
