Kansas City Metro Area Highlights
The people of Kansas City are perhaps its greatest asset. And if anyone questions those of us who live here saying that, believe billionaire John Pritzker who wrote a letter to editor after the 2015 World Series where his San Francisco team lost to the Kansas City Royals. His letter to the editor following that loss went viral. Click here to read for yourself.
And if you've never visited Kansas City, to truly experience the difference the people make, you may have to experience it to believe it...but you'll feel it almost as soon as you arrive at our brand new airport that feels as big city modern as it does small town neighborhood.
KC Keys to Consider
As you compare potential places to live there are a number of important long-term considerations. Following are just a few of those you will want to keep in mind as you look to find a new home, literally and figuratively, for you and your family.

Cost of Living
Missouri ranks #7 on the list of least expensive states to live in, according to a November 1, 2022, report from Forbes. Researchers compiled a cost of living index based on monthly living expenses including housing and utilities, transportation, healthcare and groceries. This means your MAVI salary stretches even further than it would in 43 other states.

Schools
The Kansas City metropolitan area has the Missouri and Kansas state line running through it. Regardless of where surgeons decide to live, there are excellent public and private school options on both sides of the state line.

Real Estate
MAVI partners with Gina Gialde to provide recruits with an independent resource for housing information, but most often it’s a very pleasant surprise with just how much house one can buy for the money in the Kansas City area. We have surgeons living on both sides of the state line so the options are vast.
