When our founding physicians from two competing 30-year practices sat down around a conference table to create MAVI, these were the values they wanted the organization to be built around, LIFE: Loyalty, Integrity, Flexibility and Empathy. Surgeons, especially vascular surgeons, need to be perfect since lives and limbs depend on it. The smallest of details matter, they don’t know exactly what they’re going to find until they cut, they know they need multiple plans going into the surgery, and there’s no other specialty to call to bail them out if they make a mistake. That’s a lot of pressure and it can be isolating and lonely without a team, or as we refer to it, a MAVI family right there to support you through everything life can bring. At MAVI, we don’t shy away from change or challenge. We break down armor with authenticity. We achieve goals with grit. Life isn’t easy and neither is being a vascular surgeon, but both can be extremely gratifying with honest and caring people beside you who teach you, learn from you, grow with you and have your back.
